Brandon Talisesky of New York outdueled masters runner Joe Satterfield of Bowdoinham to win the men’s marathon division, and Emma Howe beat fellow Cambridge, Mass., resident Tara Bozzini for the marathon women’s title in the 31st edition the Maine Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay.
Talisesky, 32, traded the lead with Satterfield, 46, before pulling away late to win in 2 hours, 34 minute and 54 seconds. Satterfield finished in 2:36:35 and won the masters division ahead of the ageless Robert Ashby, 55, of Brunswick, was third overall in 2:38:46.
Howe, 27, posted a time of 2:48:57, while Bozzini, also 27, was clocked in 2:52:31. North Yarmouth’s Christine Hein, a former champion in both the Maine Marathon and Maine Half, took third place while winning the women’s masters division in 3:05:47.
Jesse Orach, 27, of Auburn kicked off the festivities by winning the men’s half marathon in 1:08:41, ahead of Ben Lanza (1:09:58), 25, of Peaks Island and Dom Sclafani (1:11:50), 23, of Harrison.
The 2022 women’s half marathon runner-up, Veronica Graziano, 36, of Falmouth, took the top spot this time 1:18:43. She was followed by Portland’s Michaela Spannaus (1:20:40), 29, and Marah Borgman (1:20:50), 38.
The Maine Harriers, a men’s team, was the fastest of 150 marathon relay teams, finishing with a net time of 2:38:13. Other relay division winners were:
