What previous runners have said about the Maine Marathon

“It was my first marathon in the US and I would recommend it to anyone looking for great fun and feeling of “local run” in the best sense of this word. Engaged volunteers, fantastic views on the track, safety and cheering locals – it was all there. The marathon course was a bit hilly (total gain was 300m!), which took me by surprise, so be ready! ”
– Bartek Strozek, Wroclaw, Poland, 2018 finisher

“Awesome race on an incredible day! Most amazing fact is how energetic and committed all of your volunteers were, even through the 5+ hour finishers like me in my first marathon. I’ll be back!!”
– East Waterboro, ME

“I left the race thinking that I have never met any group of people more enthusiastic about each other’s success. Thanks to all the volunteers, runners, musicians and roadside folks cheering us on.”
– Timothy Spencer, Revere, MA, 2018 finisher

“Thank you for support me to get a race ticket. There are no problems to pick up there. The race was beautiful. Very good organization and friendless volunteer all stations. I can recommend the Maine Marathon. Thank you again and best regards.”
– Germany

“Despite there being a race 20 minutes from my home in NH on the same day, I chose to wake at 4 am to try out the Maine Half Marathon. The cost was lower and the experience was amazing! Parking was easy (and free). We had same day packet pickup and this shirt is my new favorite race premium! Finally, the course: it was lovely. It was flat and scenic and even as a middle of the packer, I was always surrounded by dozens of other runners. The volunteers and spectators were extremely enthusiastic. As a bonus, the runner tracking was neat! I have done about 20 half/full marathons in New England and I will be back for this one for sure. It’s my new favorite!”
– Nottingham, NH, 2018 finisher

“Loved the marathon! Such a beautiful course! It was the best way ever to celebrate my 50th birthday.”
– Austin, TX

“This was a great race. Course was beautiful, volunteers were helpful. It was a great “Maine” experience, and the course lent it itself to a BQ as well!”
– Alaric Fox, Middleton, CT, 2018 finisher

“Despite the weather, my runners still had a blast though and they have said numerous times it’s the volunteers who deserved the medals. Thanks for letting us be a part of it.”
– Center for Grieving Children

“I want to congratulate you on another great event. It gets better each year and it’s as well a run event I have ever been part of and I have run over 40 marathons both in the US and Europe. Your volunteers work so hard and it’s a reflection on you! Great job!”

“Staff and volunteers were very nice and you could tell they wanted you to have a great experience. It seems like everybody tried very hard to give me a great race experience. There were no lines to pick up a very nice long sleeve shirt. I run to have fun and the race met my goal.”

– Michael Parker, Succasunna, NJ, 2018 finisher

“The Maine Marathon is one of the best-directed marathons in the country. I have come from Mississippi 4 times and have never been disappointed. The course is great and the people who help us are greater. Thanks for your marathon and work.”
-Clifton Cartwright, Randolph, MS, 2018 finisher

“Maine Marathon is where it all began for me. It was my first marathon, first BQ, and it currently holds my marathon PR. The course is legit. If you run well at Maine, then you have earned it. I look forward to the Maine Marathon every year.”
-Hollie Corbett, Cape Elizabeth, ME, 2018 finisher

“I know that race directors very seldom get anything but complaints, so I always try to let you all know when you do things GREAT!! Portland was my 4th marathon and it was awesome! The weather was certainly less than desirable however I loved it! But more importantly, the course was fantastic, the entire course was well supported, great water stops, traffic control was fantastic – there was NEVER a point where I felt unsafe on the course, the finish was fantastic – so great to hear your name announced as you cross the finish line (and I did it with a huge PR). Overall – wonderful well run race that I can highly recommend to all my running friends. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and effort!! A+”
– Beverly, MA

“Just wanted to congratulate you and all of your crew for putting on a fantastic event. I ran the marathon and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Your race is incredibly well-organized, and I’m not sure where you found so many volunteers, but I couldn’t believe how many of them lined the course, cheering me and all of the other participants on nearly every step of the way. I don’t think I stopped smiling for a minute, and being a not-particularly-speedy person, that added up to a lot of minutes….I can’t imagine a better venue for my first marathon. Thanks again for a memorable day!
– Bedford, NH

“I just wanted to thank you for your utterly amazing organization and communication before, during and after this race. I have run a number of races and have never been as impressed with the hard work that went into to make this so successful!”
– Topsham, ME

“Congratulations to the entire Maine Track Club on the 20th Maine Marathon and also for pulling off a major event in such adverse conditions.”
